This is going to be a little cliche, but that's okay. I appreciate you joining me.
I have made it very clear that I love my life here on Oahu. I have made this beautiful place my home and I wanted to share with all of you a few local spots that I frequent that deserve a shout out. I don't want to just write a list of places that take my money... that's boring. I am also going to share a little story per location I list. You're welcome.
1. Kepoikai II Catamaran - This is the best booze cruise I have been on, and I always recommend this to anyone who is visiting or living on island. The crew is so nice, fun, and you can either buy drinks on the catamaran or BYOB. I have been dolphins, whales and turtles on this boat. Rain or shine, this catamaran is always fun.
My dad and step mom were visiting recently and I took them both on this catamaran. This was the first time either of them have been on a booze cruise!! The waves were huge and as my friends and I sat on the net at the front of the boat we got absolutely pelted with water. It was magical and somehow my friends laughter was loud and more beautiful than the crashing of the waves.
2. Heavenly Island Lifestyle - This is one of my favorite restaurants on island. The inside of this restaurant is the cutest decorations I have seen in a long time. Cute tables, fun pillows and the wall decorations make you feel like you are at home. They have some of the best homemade pho I have had in a long time and you can taste the freshness in anything you order.
Sunday funday is a very real thing and I partake very frequently. After a long morning brunch shift my friends and I attended happy hour at Heavenly. We tried to do the challenge where you wrap your whole mouth around the glass of the champagne flute and try and drink the whole mimosa in one go. My hilarious friend Cheryl failed on her first and only attempt. Don't worry, we apologized and cleaned up our mess. As we were wiping up the champagne, I was wiping away the tears from laughing so so hard.
3. La Pina Cantina - This is inside the Kuhio Food Hall. The best happy hour deals I have found in all of Waikiki. One bar has a 2 dollar draft beer special and the other bar has 5 dollar tequila shots!! La pina specifically has the nicest bartenders that rememebr what you drink and have great personalities. I appriciate a bar that you sit down in and they are happy to see you. Their tacos are pretty tastey as well.
I sat down at this bar with my mom and we immediately order nachos and a round of drinks. We got to talking to the man sitting next to us and by the end of this hour conversation we are sipping on top shelf Clase Azul Mezcal. I am not one to order fancy drinks, but I get it. That was the best mezcal I have ever had in my life. I have many other memories at this specific bar, and every single other one is with my amazing friends. I have burned so many calories from laughing and sitting at this bar.
I am going to end there, my current top three places that I recommend to my friends, families, and visitors.
I want to end this with, be nice to the 'Āina, the land. Be nice to the people who live and love it here. Pick up your trash, don't honk your horn, don't touch the turtles, and just don't be a butthole when visiting this beautiful land. If you aren't going to respect the people, land and culture... this may not be the place to visit.
Love you all long time,
Jules
